What completed travel documents do I need to board the ship? Are there other important requirements to prepare for boarding day?

As policies continue to evolve with the latest public health guidance, required documents are subject to change at any time. Travel document requirements vary based on your country of citizenship and your port of departure. Be sure to check on your own country’s departure and re-entry requirements before traveling. Booked guests will be advised of the latest requirements for their port of departure before sailing.

 

For Cruises Departing from U.S. Homeports

You will need to have the following documents when they arrive to board the ship. 

  • A Passport Book or Passport Card, valid for at least six months after your cruise, is strongly recommended. If you do not have a Passport, you may present a state-certified U.S. Birth Certificate (not a "baby feet" hospital certificate or baptismal paper). Guests age 16 and older that present a Birth Certificate will also need to provide a valid Driver's License or picture ID issued by the government.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card that shows you received the final dose of your vaccine at least 14 days before sailing. Read more at the main vaccination requirement FAQ.
  • COVID-19 Test Result: All guests age 2 and older — including those who have been vaccinated — will need to present a printed copy of their negative COVID-19 result (antigen or PCR test accepted). Vaccinated guests age 12 and older must take this test no more than 2 days before boarding day. Unvaccinated kids age 2 to 11 must take this test no more than 3 days before boarding day.   • Health Questionnaire to be completed on our Royal Caribbean App the day before you board.

For Cruises Departing from Barcelona, Spain

  • Proof of Vaccination: Royal Caribbean requires guests age 18 and older to be fully vaccinated. On arrival at the port, vaccinated guests must display proof of their vaccination, acceptable proof of vaccination must be in the form of the original vaccination record document issued by the country’s health authority or healthcare provider that administered the vaccination. The vaccination record submitted must show that the guest is fully vaccinated. This means that the guest has completed the full cycle of required doses for the vaccine administered (e.g., received the second dose in a two-dose series) and that the guest has received the final dose at least 14 days before arriving at their cruise departure terminal in Barcelona.
  • Antigen Test Result: All guests age 2 and older— including those who have been vaccinated — will need to take a complimentary antigen test on arrival at the port and present the negative test result.
  • Passport / European ID Card: Guests of all ages must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date you’ll be returning to your country. EU Nationals may also present their European ID card.
  • Health Questionnaire: Guests of all ages must complete the pre cruise Health Questionnaire on the Royal Caribbean App. It will become available in the app the day before you board.
  • Visa: All guests must ensure they check their visa requirements for entering both Spain and the ports of call included within the itinerary.

  • For Cruises Departing from Rome, Italy

    • Proof of Vaccination: Royal Caribbean requires guests age 18 and older to be fully vaccinated. On arrival at the port, vaccinated guests must display proof of their vaccination, acceptable proof of vaccination must be in the form of the original vaccination record document issued by the country’s health authority or healthcare provider that administered the vaccination. The vaccination record submitted must show that the guest is fully vaccinated. This means that the guest has completed the full cycle of required doses for the vaccine administered (e.g., received the second dose in a two-dose series) and that the guest has received the final dose at least 14 days before arriving at their cruise departure terminal.

    • EU Digital Passenger Locator Form: Guests of all ages entering Italy from other countries must complete the EU Digital Passenger Locator Form before traveling to Italy.

    For Cruises Departing from Limassol, Cyprus

    Requirements may vary depending on where you are sailing from, please refer to the Getting Ready to Cruise page to see the requirements for specific homeports.

    • Cyprus Flight Pass: Guests of all ages flying into Cyprus must complete the Cyprus Flight Pass within 48 hours of travel to Cyprus. Learn more about the Cyprus Flight Pass.
    • Proof of Vaccination: Royal Caribbean requires guests age 18 and older to be fully vaccinated. On arrival at the port vaccinated guests must display their vaccination status on their government approved App or with a vaccination certificate or letter from their health authority or general practitioner (GP).
    • Passport / European ID Card: Guests of every age must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date you’ll be returning to your country.  EU Nationals may also present their European ID card.
    • Health Questionnaire: Guests of every age must complete the pre-cruise Health Questionnaire on the Royal Caribbean App. It will become available in the app the day before you board. 
    • Visa:  All guests must ensure they check their visa requirements for entering both the Republic of Cyprus and the ports of call included within the itinerary.

    For Cruises Departing from Southampton, England

    Guests sailing from Southampton will need to have the following documents when they arrive to board the ship.

    • Passport/ Driving License: Guests of every age are required to have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after their sailing’s return date.  Residents of the UK may provide a valid UK photo Driving License.
    • Proof of Vaccination: Royal Caribbean requires guests age 18 and older to be fully vaccinated. On arrival at the port vaccinated guests from the UK must display their vaccination status on the NHS App or provide a valid NHS vaccination certificate. We recommend that guests register for the NHS App or vaccination certificate at least 2 weeks prior to travel. Guests who do not have access to the NHS service must provide a letter from their health authority or general practitioner (GP), vaccination cards will not be accepted for residents of England, Wales or Scotland. All other guests will be asked to display COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card with the final dose of their vaccine administered at least 14 days before sailing.
    • COVID-19 Test Result: All guests from the UK and unvaccinated guests from overseas will need to present a negative test result for COVID-19 taken within 3 days of sailing. Guests must present their test certificate at the port which can be a paper or digital version.
    • Health Questionnaire: All guests must complete the pre cruise Health Questionnaire on the Royal Caribbean App. It will become available in the app the day before you board.
    • UK Passenger Locator Form: Guests arriving from overseas must fill in your Passenger Locator Form up to 48 hours before arrival. You must declare all countries you have visited or transited through in the 10 days prior to your arrival on your Passenger Locator Form.
